Islamic feministic literature has emerged to become one of the main genres that compliment the mainstream womens’ literature. It seems to be emerging from various pockets that have had an active political history of patriarchal dominance. While the old school of writers like Fatema Mernissi from Morocco and Anna Marie Schimmel wrote mostly about a certain form of historiography and saw the women as a figure who emerged from a context in history, there were others like Margot Badran and Asma Barlas who emerged from the from the many new political and progressive movements of the times. These were writers who took a strong political stance and asserted it through their writings. Amina Wadud comes from such a school of thinkers.
